Daniela Quail, Ph.D., Principal Investigator
Daniela completed a B.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of Western Ontario, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She opened her lab in August 2017 at the Goodman Cancer Institute and Department of Physiology at McGill University, Montreal. She currently holds a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Tumour Microenvironment research.
Azadeh Arabzadeh, Ph.D., Pharm.D., Research Associate
Azadeh completed a Pharm.D. at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, a Ph.D. at the University of Ottawa, and a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University. She has >20 years of research experience in cellular and molecular medicine. She joined the Quail lab in August 2017, jointly appointed with the Walsh Lab. Her project is focused on translational regulation of neutrophil phenotypes in cancer.
Sheri McDowell, B.Sc., Ph.D. Candidate
Sheri completed a B.Sc. at McGill University, and joined the Quail lab in September 2017 as a Ph.D. student in the Department of Physiology. She is a recipient of the Goodman Cancer Institute Recruitment Scholarship, and CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarship. Her thesis project is focused on the role of obesity-associated inflammation during breast cancer metastasis.
Simon Milette, M.Sc., Ph.D. Candidate
Simon completed a B.Sc. in the Interdepartmental Honours program in Immunology, and an M.Sc. in Experimental Medicine at McGill University and the MUHC. He is currently co-supervised by the Quail and Spicer labs, and joined in September 2018 as a Ph.D. student in the Division of Experimental Medicine. He is a recipient of the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships (CIHR), and the FRQS Doctoral Award. His thesis project is focused on the role of the circadian rhythm in the regulation of the immune response to lung cancer.
Benoit Fiset, Bioinformaticist
Benoit has over 25 years of experience in computer science, IT Networking and Internet Security, and is proficient in many computer programming languages which include Perl, R, and Python. He provides critical analytic support for all lab members, and has developed computational pipelines for sequencing analysis, imaging studies, and data integration. He joined the Quail Lab in November 2017, and is jointly appointed with the Walsh Lab.
Valérie Breton, B.Sc., Lab Manager
Valérie completed a B.Sc. in Biotechnology at Université Sherbrooke. She has >15 years of research experience in cell biology and mouse models of cancer. She joined the Quail lab in August 2017 as a Lab Manager, jointly appointed with the Walsh Lab, and is the point-person for training, operations and technology development.
Lysanne Desharnais, B.Sc., M.Sc. Candidate
Lysanne completed a B.Sc. at Ottawa University. She is currently co-supervised by the Quail and Walsh labs, and joined in September 2018 as a M.Sc. student in the Department of Human Genetics. Her thesis project is focused on the influence of obesity on immune checkpoint blockade efficacy in cancer.
Miranda Yu, B.Sc., Ph.D. Candidate. Miranda completed her B.Sc. at Queens University. She has a research background in basic immunology, with a focus on T cells. In September 2020, Miranda joined the Quail lab as a Ph.D. student. Her thesis investigates the role of trained immunity and the immune tumour microenvironment in glioblastoma progression.
Sarah Petrecca, B.Sc., M.Sc. Candidate.
Sarah joined the Quail lab in January of 2020. She completed a B.Sc. in Honours Anatomy and Cell Biology and is now pursuing an M.Sc. in Experimental Medicine at McGill University. She is a recipient of the Goodman Cancer Institute Recruitment Scholarship, and the Experimental Medicine Merit Entrance Scholarship. Her thesis project is focused on the effect of obesity on site-specific metastases.
