Our team of authors represents a truly amazing group of colleagues, including Dr. Pierre Fiset (clinical pathology), Dr. Jonathan Spicer (cardiothoracic surgery), Dr. Logan Walsh (bioinformatics and genomics), and led by PhD student Simon Milette.
March 15-19, 2019 – Simon, Lucas and Sheri from the Quail Lab take on Italy at the Keystone Symposia, Cancer Metastasis: The Role of Metabolism, Immunity and the Microenvironment. Look for Sheri McDowell’s poster on obesity, neutrophils and breast cancer metastasis.
March 2019 – Check out our new review published this month in Nature Reviews Endocrinology, co-authored with our long-time collaborator, Dr. Andrew Dannenberg from Weill Cornell Medical College, NY.
December 2018 – Joint lab holiday party with the Walsh, Quail and Spicer Labs! Complete with unexpected performances, Secret Santa, homemade chocolate, outrageous games, and of course, lots and lots of cocktails.
November, 2018 – This month was full of incredible conferences! Daniela presented at the Society for Neuro-Oncology 2018 annual meeting on The Brain Microenvironment, at a Forbeck Meeting on The Cancer Cell Microenvironment, and at the Banbury Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Diverse Functions of Neutrophils in Cancer. Tons of new ideas and collaborations! Was great to catch up with old friends and colleagues in New York.
September 1, 2018 – Welcome to the lab, Ryan Yang! Ryan is our new undergraduate student, completing an honour’s thesis in Microbiology and Immunology.
August, 2018 – The Quail lab cleans up! Congratulations to Lucas Perus for being awarded the Max and Jane K. Childress Entrance Fellowship in Physiology, and to Simon Milette for being awarded a Canderel Graduate Studentship from the GCRC! We are looking forward to having you both join our team in September!

June 19-22, 2018 – The Quail Lab welcomes two new members to the team, Lucas Perus and Simon Milette, who will join us as Ph.D. candidates in September 2018. Great way to kick off at the AACR Special Conference on Cancer Dormancy and Residual Disease here in Montreal! Hear from both Simon and Daniela on Friday June 22, in the Plenary Session on Dormancy and Immune Evasion.
May 25, 2018 – Congratulations to Sheri McDowell for her successful transition into the Ph.D. program in Physiology, and CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarship award!
May 4-8, 2018 – Daniela will be presenting at the American Association of Immunology 2018 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. There will be a fantastic lineup of speakers on the multifaceted effects of obesity on cancer progression (perfect timing for Cinco de Mayo!)
April 14-18, 2018 – The Quail and Walsh labs head to Chicago for the American Association of Cancer Research 2018 Annual Meeting! Daniela will be speaking on Tuesday April 17 at 10:30 am on energy balance and the TME, and moderating a session on Monday April 16 at 11:45 am on careers in tumor immunology. April 17, 2018 – A big congrats to Nick Bennett for receiving two awards for his summer studentship in the Quail Lab, the Canderel Rising Star Summer Internship from the Goodman Cancer Research Centre, and a Science Undergraduate Research Award from the Faculty of Science.

April 11, 2018 – The Goodman Cancer Research Centre will be hosting a public forum on brain tumors. Daniela will be speaking about the brain tumor microenvironment during disease progression and response to therapy. All public forums at the GCRC are FREE. September 25, 2017 – Our review published in Nature Reviews Cancer today on the effects of exercise on the tumor microenvironment. Thanks to all co-authors, especially Graeme Koelwyn (New York University) and Lee Jones (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center). We even made it on the issue cover!
August 1, 2017 – The Quail Lab officially opens!!
